I’d like to start with actual modern rock music. Granted I know I’ll have to learn chords and such. Also, I need it to be affordable.
Thanks!
Just remember you got to crawl before you walk and walk before you rock. Everyone who makes it does so by spending hundreds of hours practicing the basics to the point where they can do it subconsciously. Who knows, you might be the one to make Row Your Boat really rock. Do that and untold thousands of beginning musicians will owe you one.

If you already own a guitar you start online learning any songs you want. Most of your favorite songs are typically quite easy to play simply and sound really good. Go to the link in the source. You’ll find lessons, explanation of things, all that you to learn as beginner. And it is not hard to understand. Print out a chord chart, and then print out some of your favorite ongs and just match up the chords. I learned in one hour. I have been playing now for five years, never had a lesson, and I have played in 3 different bands.
Good luck!!!
