I was in the same boat you are. There is this website that has these really amazing guitar teachers demonstrate lessons in videos. Also, they show you how to play the songs you want to learn. Most of the videos are FREE! Which is awsome, and it helped me out so much. They also have more extensive and advanced lessons for a small fee. They have some of their videos up on YouTube also. You should check them out. Their website is www.nextlevelguitar.com

Ultimate-Guitar is good for tabs and articles, but NLG has the videos with close-ups and the teachers break it down piece by piece so you know what to do. They also have written lessons if you need both.

Good Luck!

oh and if you want to get books, the ONLY ones worth buying are Method and Music Theory books. Mine has both in one, it's called, "Everybody's Guitar Method" volumes 1 and 2. They're awsome because they are so detailed and simple to understand.
References :
been there!!!

If you have good hearing like me, you do not require any lessons. Hear the musics, search the chords adn play. If there still any difficulties, search the chord at www.ultimate-guitar.com. They also provide the chords diagram so that u can read the chords as simple as A-B-C. Trust me. That's exactly what i do and did.
