Where can I get electric guitar lessons?

Posted by admin on January 2nd, 2010 and filed under rock guitar lessons | 6 Comments »

Rock band doesn’t cut it anymore. Where can I go and about how much would it cost?
    i want to rock lol

I hate to sound like a douche, but the problem with most beginners is that they expect it to be like rock band, or guitar hero, the truth is that it is nothing like those games. When you first start playing it is very hard, its like try to read if you dyslexic, it seems impossible (or atleast for me it was). But if you practice an hour or two every day for a week or so, you will start to get the hang of it. You wont be playing like Yngwie Malmsteen or Allen Holdsworth, but you know just simple fun songs (Smoke on the Water, Iron Man, Cat Scratch Fever, etc.). Now alot of people stop there and say "good enough", but you have to keep going. Ohh, i probably sound like a guitar nerd douchebag, if i do i am sorry i dont mean to be.

Anyway, your question, just go to a local music store (NOT GUITAR CENTER), and ask them if they give guitar lessons. It will probably be $100/month, just a rough guess.

I live in Plano, Texas, and want to take guitar lessons, but dont want to start with "row your boat"?

Posted by admin on December 30th, 2009 and filed under rock guitar lessons | 2 Comments »

I’d like to start with actual modern rock music. Granted I know I’ll have to learn chords and such. Also, I need it to be affordable.
    Thanks!

Just remember you got to crawl before you walk and walk before you rock. Everyone who makes it does so by spending hundreds of hours practicing the basics to the point where they can do it subconsciously. Who knows, you might be the one to make Row Your Boat really rock. Do that and untold thousands of beginning musicians will owe you one.

What are the best rock songs with guitar solos? My 7 year old has started lessons.?

LOL I’m not trying to get him to PLAY these songs, just to expose him to the music! His teacher knows what he’s doing as far as lessons go, but his education includes what he listens to.

So is 5yrs too young of an age to start taking guitar lessons?

Posted by admin on December 19th, 2009 and filed under rock guitar lessons | 6 Comments »

I got my son an acoustic guitar for his 5th B-day this past weekend, and he really wants to play rock n roll. But is 5 too young? He doesn’t like to sit still for too long, BTW.

Absolutely not. If that is something he wants to do he’ll amuse himself for hours.

Lessons are the key, being at least one a week.

Will he be playing rock and roll right away? No. A good teacher will go classical since that’s what most music is based off of and he’ll be learning far more chords that way too. Playing classical will actually expand on ANYTHING he wants to learn later.

AND..if he shows an aptitude for music, math is sure to follow.

I started piano lessons at 5. And I’m not warped beyond recognition…YET.

If he wants to learn he’ll sit still…if not you’ll know by the amount of dust it collects.

Hell when my refund comes back I’m buying a bass guitar to learn.

Music is a wonderful opportunity for every child and extremely constructive.
