I don’t have enough money for private lessons and i have tried using a computer software to help me but none of that helps. What should I do?
I taught myself too.
Practice makes perfect.
First you need to learn the names of each string, and get familiar with simple tabs.
Some easy songs:
Marilyn Manson version of -Sweet Dreams
Anthrax- Madhouse
The Cranberries- Zombie
Deep Purple- Smoke in the water
I learned by playing those songs, try to learn a different song every single day, easy-hard- then you’ll be a pro.
if so, where the heck can i buy the software?

Frett light guitar plug into usb port… software comes with guitar
i just wanna learn the basic fingering for a rythm to sing along with.
i went to a lesson before and i dont like it i also bought software i didnt like. any help?
you won’t be learning the guitar per se….you’d be playing a guitar….but not learning….just play whatever you feel like really…just hit notes darling…move your fingers up and down the strings…no right or wrong way right now for you…just try to find something you like…now once you get past that stage…head on over to http://www.youtube.com/user/JustinSandercoe
and get your learn on…software is not necessary…lessons are not necessary..yet…to play along to some songs in rhythm.
so again you aren’t learning really..you’d just be copying some things other people are doing right now…as long as you enjoy it…please remember to enjoy the sound you create…then later in life…very shortly usually…you will want to figure out what the next note should be to sound correct…and off you go on your journey of music..
Best Wishes
I am a musician (guitar player) who both gigs in a working band and gives guitar lessons several days a week in a music store. I wish to expand my teaching "business" by offering one on one lessons to anyone in the world theoretically via webcam. I have a MacBook pro with a built in webcam which makes things pretty simple, but assuming most of my students will not have newer Macs, what type of software/hardware will I/they need to execute a real time online lesson where we can both see and hear each other. Thanks.
We currently don’t have a software app like this in our range at NCH Software but I have put your question to our developers (since a number of them a guitar players/musicians themselves). Since it could be used in a broader scope it may be something of interest to them (schools, businesses).
We have an app like this but it’s only for Audio called Language Coach, so we could possibly build on that as a base and incorporate video.
i am searching for a free program or software that will teach me how to play the acoustic guitar thats collecting dust in the attic.
can anyone here give me a link to the best freeware guitar lessons?
i found some but only on a free trial
If I were you I would just go to a music store and buy the Hal Leonard Guitar Method Book 1 for 6 dollars. Learn on that book and it will help you get pointed in the right direction. Trying to learn on the internet without any prior guitar knowledge will just confuse you more then it will help. Its only 6 dollars and there is no time limit.
I have wanted to play the guitar all my life. My parents got me a guitar a couple years ago, and some books. I have tried maybe three different forms of lessons, all start off at different places. Where is the best place to start when learning to play? Also, got some money now, any advice on some good software or book (idiot proof) to teach me how to play? I really do want to learn this, I’m just kinda overwhelmed. Any other advice welcome please.
Thanks!
Everyone has given you great advice, but I’d like to add one very important aspect that often gets ignored…
Play well with others!
You will improve 10 times as fast playing and practicing with another, then you will sitting at home in your room alone.
Try to find someone who’s a better guitarist, if they can put up with you, and get together to sing songs, write music..etc..at least once a week.
It’s also very important that you FORCE yourself to sit down everyday with the express purpose of practicing.
Some days you may not feel up to it, but if you force yourself..if only for 15 minutes a day, you’ll find the time stretching into an hour or more.
Learn a minimum of 3-4 different ways to play each chord. This will involve partial or whole bar chords up and down the neck, but will give you a great understanding of the fret board.
For example, if someone is playing the standard G chord 3-2-0-0-0-3 realize that you can play a little 3 string G chord up at the 7th fret, that’s shaped like the normal D chord
x-x-x-7-8-7
I know this sounds boring, but learn the Pentatonic Blues scale, and finally…find someway to record yourself…this is an invaluable tool for hearing areas of your playing that need more work.
Best of luck..guitarist of over 40 years
i really want to learn the guitar………i kinda feel emberassed of air guitaring wen m alone….and wen my fingers r in my pockets…please tell me….i can go for lessons for a few months…any program even if i have to pay for it…..thanks =]
try guitar guru. its pretty sweet. it will teach you how to play popular pop/rock songs. sign up for a class in your area. goto barnes and noble and buy a "total guitar" book. dont be embarrassed when you are air-guitaring. google "basic guitar" and "how to read guitar tablature" sign up for about.com’s guitar guru. they send you weekly lesseons by email. good luck man tell me how it goes =)
Alright I’m interested in learning to play the guitar. I have never before picked up an electric guitar and played it. and I have no idea about all the guitar terminology-except chords.
What would be the best computer software to learn how to play? I would prefer if your recomendations were from your personal experiences
Any other ways I can learn to play besides lessons?
Thanx
by the way, this is the guitar:
Dean Vendetta XM
it is electric but it resonates loud enough to be played without an amp. 24-fret
my past experiences have proved that learning for someone rather than a computer is a lot more helpful and beneficial. a computer can tell you what to do, but can’t critique you in what you are doing wrong. the computer can’t understand you as well as a real human, someone who has learned to play the guitar and knows what you are going through and how to help.
My friend told me about a software called "Easy guitar Deluxe". I was looking for something similar to it but i cant find anything. I just dont want to take lessons. Can someone suggest something?
thanks,
brandon =D
There are guitar books that teach simple chords and have you try them out on easy songs like row row row your boat or three blind mice.
The good thing about the books is that
They are cheep,
they really help,
and they ALWAYS come with a CD to play along to.
If you want to see someone playing it on a DVD, then go to your local guitar center-
http://gc.guitarcenter.com/locations/
and they will recommend some good guitar books like they did for me! =D
I can play a little bit but can’t read (music) so i would like the kind of lessons which must be isual in terms of seing what and how it’s being played.
Thanx!
