where can i find free on line lessons on how to play the guitar?

okay, i got a classic acoustic guitar for christmas.but i have no idea how to play it or if its even tuned. my mom says that shes not paying for lessons. and i went on youtube and looked up how to play the guitar but its way to confusing. i Absolutely know nothing about the guitar and im kinda frustrated now.can anyone help me? is anyone out there?

Lessons can definitely get expensive, but as you’ve already found out, youtube or other free sites will only help you learn a few random things.

Learning online is definitely the way to go, but if you only try to find free info, you’ll probably get confused pretty quickly. Just like most everything else: you get what you pay for. I’m a guitar instructor of over 10 years, and I’ve created a full start to finish method even for the absolute beginner. What is a good free program for guitar instruction on the internet?

I have been enjoying guitar lessons on Comcast and I have purchased an Alfred Music DVD Teach Yourself to Play Guitar. I was thinking of subscribing to Guitar Player Magazine on line because they have guitar lessons. I think the subscription is free. Are there any other freebies out there?

I want to read and study these lessons OFF LINE how can I do this so I dont tie up my phone line. And wher can I store them for future reference.

There are several ways to do this. Here is one. Open wordpad. Go to your mail. Click at the start of the lesson. And either drag to the end of the lesson or go to the end of the lesson and shift click. This highlights the lesson. Press control c. Go to wordpad and press control v. This pasts the lesson on wordpad. Save the document using save as wherever you like-somewhere in my documents-make a new folder for these. You can then open the document whenever you like, offline.

Would a classical nylon-stringed acoustic guitar be suitable for lessons?

I came into an acoustic/electric Dean Espana nylon-string guitar with built-in tuner, line out, etc. I was taking "lessons" from a family member and have recently decided to go to someone with more of a well-structured lesson plan. I told the instructor I have an acoustic, but didn’t specify the type. I eventually want to move to a steel-string acoustic, but would my Espana be good for the time being?

I always suggest students start with a classical, or nylon stringed, guitar for a couple of reasons. First your finger tips will develop callouses with much less pain, and you will be able to practice more. And, The fingerboard is usually wider, allowing students more room for those untrained hands.
