  • What is the best Guitar lesson/learning technique DVD?

Posted by admin on December 4th, 2009 and filed under guitar lessons dvd | 2 Comments »

I am a beginner and will be purchasing my first guitar shortly…. If you have a good option for a starter guitar too, please include that in your answer

Depends on what style of music you like or want to play. Try guitarcenter.com and go to the dvd section, then sort it by highest rating and read the reviews. If you want to play fast rock, check out John Petrucci- Rock Discipline, there are tons of shred licks and warmup exercises. If you play acoustic or other rock, check out Fender Getting Started On Electric guitar DVD or Rock House Learn Rock Guitar Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced DVD’s (they come in a 3 pack to keep you busy).

usually a book store will sell guitar lesson books and they often have dvds attached. I would also try out the library.

    is it any good?

I think personally its a very good course, it states there really aren’t any shortcuts….just learn and practice. It gives info in an easy to understand way.

It has good ratings on most guitar sites also .

and anything on there can be played on acoustic.

Learning to play the Guitar… is DVD lessons an option?

Posted by admin on November 14th, 2009 and filed under guitar lessons dvd | 3 Comments »

I am interested in learning to play the Acoustic guitar, I have alot of free time over the next 6 months and I figure learning the guitar a bit would be much better than playing WoW for 6 months.

I am curious how valid learning to play using just a guitar and a DVD or two would be?

I have never played any type of music before, nor have I ever learned to read music… Id just like to be able to play a bit for my wife and daughter.

Also Im looking to spend less than $200 on a guitar, what should I buy?

DVD is perfect for an absolute beginner in music, since they physically show you everything. Most guitars under 200 are made of press board and plastic anyway… just go to your local music shop and ask what they have and to pick out the best one in your price range. They’ll usually show you the difference in sound. Most good guitars start at 200-250+

    Guitar Lessons?

What is the best instructional resource for someone who wants to learn to play guitar (dvd, book, cd, CD-rom,etc.)?

learn to read tab.. then print some tabs off the net or learn the free ones in magazines.. or buy a tab book of youre favorite artist.. pop the record on and try and play along.. if you are learning songs you can enjoy playing you are less likely to get bored and give up than if you are sat learning scales and things.. you can fill in the blanks in your knowledge like scales and chord names later, by then you’ll know what learning technique you are comfortable with..

What is a good guitar instruction DVD for a 10 year old?

Posted by admin on November 8th, 2009 and filed under guitar lessons dvd | 2 Comments »

My 10 year old has taken guitar lessons for about 8 months. She has also taken piano lessons for about 5 years. She knows some chords. We may need to stop her lessons. To keep her learning, we were thinking of an instructional DVD. Is there one that would be especially good for her age. We, as her parents, don’t know guitar. Therefore, we want a good program to help her to progress. Thanks.

There is no video replacement for lessons.

What’s the best way to learn how to play guitar? DVD? LESSON?

Posted by admin on November 2nd, 2009 and filed under guitar lessons dvd | 2 Comments »

I prefer a DVD, Can anyone reccommend one? I just recently got an Ovation Guitar and I want to learn to play, I’m 50 years old and have never played a musical instrument, but I’m ready to learn.
    Thanks,
    Patty

i think the best way to learn to play Guitar is with a Video , so you can watch also the finger movments and where to put your hand. Or you can get guitar lessons by an music instructor who teaches guitar lessons.
