  • How do you play guitar hero metallica with just the Guitar controller?

Posted by admin on January 6th, 2010 and filed under guitar | 3 Comments »

Okay, so i just got guitar hero on the PS3 and it comes with a guitar. But the game keeps asking for the microphone controller witch i dont have, and i just wanna play with the guitar controller. Its really pissing me off and i would be extremely grateful to anyone who knows what to do. Thanks very much.

Use your guitar to select all the options. If you use the sixaxis controller, it thinks you want to play using a mic.

What is the difference between these Fender guitar strings?

Posted by admin on January 2nd, 2010 and filed under guitar | 4 Comments »

Besides the price? Super Bullets Nickelplated Light Electric Guitar Strings, ST3250L Nickel Plated Steel Bullets Electric Guitar Strings, Super 250 Nickel Plated Steel Electric guitar Strings, ST250L Nickel Plated Steel Standard Tension Electric Guitar Strings, Original "150" Nickel Bullets Light Electric Guitar Strings, Original "150" Nickel Bullets Light Electric Guitar Strings.

Fender Bullets have a bullet shaped end on the string that fits better into a tremolo (like on a strat) the re and then light is just an easier gauge to play on.

What is the difference between an electric guitar and a bass guitar?

What is the difference between an electric guitar and a bass guitar?
i heard that bass guitars can be electric too but they are different. How are they different. Are they in the same category despite being different? Whats the difference between an "electric guitar" and an "electric ‘base’ guitar"? Please explain, than you in advance.

Ok, well there are multiple differences. First off, an electric guitar has six strings (basically) and a bass has 4 unless more are added, but that’s for advance players. The bass guitar has a longer neck where as the guitar is short. The bass guitar strings are thicker and the notes are lower, you write the notes in the bass clef. On the guitar the notes are higher and notes are mainly written on the G clef (there are some that go below that onto the bass clef, but other then that you’d have to use a drop tuning like drop D or drop C.) The bass guitar is more of a rhythm giver where as the regular guitar is more of a lead instrument. Plus, the strings on a bass guitar are different than the strings on an electric guitar as far as notes are concerned. I hope that helps you out, I have this question once too!!!

Can I start on an electric guitar, or do I need to learn regular guitar first? What’s the differences?

Posted by admin on December 28th, 2009 and filed under guitar | 12 Comments »

I want to learn to play guitar, and I was wondering if I need to start on regular guitar, or if I can just start taking lessons on an electric guitar?
And if someone could explain the differences between the two types of guitars that would help too.

Sure, acoustics are good to start out with.

but the thing is, if you really dig the sound of a electric guitar, and that’s the style you want to play. Then start on a electric.

Even though acoustic are better for building up the foundations.

I’ve been teaching guitar for a few years now, and I found that lots of people start on a acoustic because that’s what they are told they should start on.

The problem is, they won’t practice as much because they aren’t learning the songs they would like or the guitar doesn’t make the sound they want.

So if the sound you enjoy is the electric guitar sound, there’s nothing wrong with starting out on a electric guitar, you will have more fun and encourages practice.

How do guitar companies determine thicknesses for guitar picks?

Posted by admin on December 25th, 2009 and filed under guitar | 2 Comments »

How do guitar companies determine how thick they make guitar picks? When I look at some picks they’re some random obscure number like 1.15mm or .88mm. Thanks
Yeah my favorite pick is a Dunlop nylon .88.

They make them in various thicknesses because guitarists have different preferences. The "random" numbers you’re seeing are the actual thickness of the pick in millimeters (they use those to measure small distances in countries other than the US). Picks also come in various shapes and materials (plastic and nylon being the most popular). I prefer Dunlop .60mm nylon picks. I actually switch between a thinner weight pick and a medium weight pick depending on the song I’m playing as well. Some call for a lighter more sweeping strum and the lighter picks work better for that. I highly recommend the nylon picks over plastic though. Those tortoise shell plastic Fender picks are the worst. They crack and then catch on the strings. Go to a guitar store and grab a bunch of different types and try them out. When you find the kind you like best, buy a bunch (because you’ll lose them a lot). Remember to always keep one in your pocket too ’cause you never know when you’ll come across a guitar that needs playing!

How do you connect the wireless guitar to the Playstation 2?

Posted by admin on December 22nd, 2009 and filed under guitar | 1 Comment »

I just bought guitar Hero III for my Playstation 2. I can’t seem to get the wireless guitar to work. I have the wireless thing in the right slot, but it is blinking. Should it be solid? How do I reset it or sync it to the guitar? The controlers work when I plug them in, but Guitar hero is more fun with the guitar!

If it is the black Kramer Striker Guitar, make sure the batteries are in the guitar and make sure there is nothing in front of the receiver. You need to hit the button the receiver and try turning the guitar on/off and it will connect. It will turn red when you hit a button on the guitar. However, if it is the white guitar then it will blink about every two seconds and you just need to turn the guitar on to connect it.

How good of a first guitar should I get?

Posted by admin on December 19th, 2009 and filed under guitar | 50 Comments »

I’m thinking about learning to play the guitar, but I’m a college student on a tight budget. Looking on www.craigslist.org I can find some acoustic guitars for <$100, but the quality is probably not that great. How good of a guitar do I need if I’ll probably buy a better one if I decide to continue playing? Does it really matter whether it’s a Yamaha or Fender (or some other lesser brand), etc.? What are the *essential* things I should be looking for in a first guitar? If anyone knows, I would also appreciate descriptions of the major guitar teaching methods. :)
hehe, it’s nice to see all these helpful responses. ^_^ Just as a note, I’ve played the piano since 3rd grade, and a Chinese stringed instrument (similar to the violin) since 7th. I want to start on an acoustic because it seems more versatile if I know I want to learn classical guitar. I’ve been trying to decide whether to pick up the guitar or violin, but I figure it would be easier on my budget if I try the guitar first (esp since it seems like I’d be more likely to be able to teach myself guitar than the violin). If I like it, I definitely plan to look for a professional teacher. Thanks again for the responses! :)

Yeah get a moderately decent Guitar.
I suggest an epiphone. Just go into any guitar store. They’re a great starter guitar and actually a subbrand of Gibson guitars which are used by some of the greatest players in the world. Plus, you can get Tab music from olga.net. See my link.
    Good luck!

What brand of guitar sells really good, cheap baby acoustic guitars?

Posted by admin on December 9th, 2009 and filed under guitar | 4 Comments »

I want a baby guitar. I noticed Taylor guitars sells them for around 400. But I don’t have enough money. What other manufacturer makes good baby guitars?

If you want a real good sounding, smaller scale guitar, then check out Luna Guitars.
We tested about 50 of them and the sound projection, finish and quality was surprising . They are inexpensive and specially made for those who prefer a smaller guitars, want a big sound, and a guitar with a special finish.

Don’t kid yourself, this is not a toy. it is a real guitar.

What type of guitar is good for beginners?

Posted by admin on December 6th, 2009 and filed under guitar | 10 Comments »

I am interested in learning how to play the guitar but I have no idea where to take lessons. I know I have to buy a guitar first but I do not know what type of guitar would be good for a beginner like me. Can somebody fill me in on different types of guitars and what would be best to start off with? Thanks in advance!

The two main types of guitar are acoustic and electric. Acoustic guitars have hollow bodies and make their own sound. Electric guitars are either solid wood or have very thin bodies, both kinds with pickups that require that the guitar be plugged into an amp to be heard.

You can learn equally well on either kind so consider the music you want to be able to play and from that you can determine which is a better choice for you.

Buy your guitar from a music store and nowhere else. Do not buy from eBay, the internet, or a big box store like Target or Wal*Mart. Expect to pay $200 for an acceptable beginner’s guitar plus another $100 for a small amp if you buy the electric guitar. Good luck.
