  • Bass Guitar lessons – online or with a real instructor?

Posted by admin on December 30th, 2009 and filed under bass lessons | 7 Comments »

I used to play bass when I was younger, but I’m a real beginner. I want to learn how to read music and really learn how to play the bass. Any suggestions for online tutorials or should I just find a real instructor locally?

You should really take lessons form an instructor. That way if you have any questions they can easily be answered.

There are online tutorials and they can help. I play bass also and I used the online tutorials to teach myself how to play but then I switched to learn from an instructor.

Get you on line scale for notes for guitars. You could where you said before played try on line. But there is nothing better than learning one on one via a teacher.

save some money and go to the library and get some books to learn to read music, but go get lessons from a live instructor. The personal hands on interaction helps alot more then lessons over the internet.

No doubt, your best option is to seek out a good instructor. Not just any, but one who comes with a good track record. Only a live teacher can show you the hands on techniques that you will be much longer in perfecting on your own, let alone the bad habits that you’ll have to correct later. You may wish to augment this instruction, by studies in music reading, theory, etc. with library and on line texts. Your dedication to study and practice will be the major road to your success.

I am a bass guitar instructor and all of my lesson plans are available online. If you click the link below and navigate to "Bass Play Along Package" you will find an extensive study of different styles music that can be played on bass. They are not for the absolute beginner, but they might be useful to you someday. Have fun…..
