There’s only one school in the whole city but they only teach jazz, and i wanna be a Heavy Metal lead guitarist. Should i go for jazz?
I would prefer blues because i know there isn’t a metal school but..They don’t have blues, only jazz!
yes you should
i play 19 instruments but the guitar is my primary…
i play metal sometimes and i use a whole crapload of jazz scales while i do it..
i know that you wont really like it but just stick it out go to the lessons and learn the scales and chords and i promise you that you will be thankful that you did..
it really helped me alot knowing all of the jazz riffs and stuff

Hey Agnes,
Lessons can definitely get expensive, but as you’ve already found out, youtube or other free sites will only help you learn a few random things.
Learning online is definitely the way to go, but if you only try to find free info, you’ll probably get confused pretty quickly. Just like most everything else: you get what you pay for. I’m a guitar instructor of over 10 years, and I’ve created a full start to finish method even for the absolute beginner. Even if you decide not to go with me, I wrote an article on how to pick the best online lessons. You can check out some free videos too while you’re there:

Another quick lesson for beginners on how to play some common rock licks, and with use of the diatonic scale. This video will be more helpful if you view the first video on rock licks first.

I would like to learn how to "pick" on the acoustic guitar, are there any free websites showing how, or a dvd you can order?
vguitarlessons.com i think thats it. or just go to youtube.
Everywhere I look seems to be a random tip on playing. Is there some source that offers many lessons in order of skill level? Like to where I don’t miss any knowledge other than practicing? I’m looking for free also, if that’s possible. :/
Also, how would classical guitar be for beginners? I’m looking to play soft music from Final Fantasy, Zelda, etc. So electric doesn’t sound right although I heard the size of the neck is good for beginners.
