I am noob to guitar plucking and I have a weird question. I have been longing to start learning guitar lessons and before that I heard this really cool tune somewhere on the net (it is about 9 secs long – just the tune — no words in it) and I’m terribly jumping up and down to know how to play that tune on my "Squire" electric guitar. Is there any place or any software that could convert that tune into appropriate notes? I know that if I went to tutor to learn guitar, I could ask him to give me the tabs for it. But I direly need to know now…!!
Thanks for any response.
Peace,
J

I’m wanting to learn guitar, but I’m having trouble finding a teacher in my area that can work with in my schedule. Someone suggested that I get some lessons on dvd’s or vhs. So I got a video and the songs where country songs and they just bored me. Does anyone have any helpful advice on some guitar lessons videos, and where I can get them. I have an accoustic, and whould like to learn bluegrass, rock & blues in the fingerstyle tradition. I do know a little, some cords and stuff, but I’m still really an amatuer. Please help!
I was in the same boat you are. There is this website that has these really amazing guitar teachers demonstrate lessons in videos. Also, they show you how to play the songs you want to learn. Most of the videos are FREE! Which is awsome, and it helped me out so much. They also have more extensive and advanced lessons for a small fee. They have some of their videos up on YouTube also. You should check them out. Their website is www.nextlevelguitar.com
Ultimate-Guitar is good for tabs and articles, but NLG has the videos with close-ups and the teachers break it down piece by piece so you know what to do. They also have written lessons if you need both.
Good Luck!
oh and if you want to get books, the ONLY ones worth buying are Method and Music Theory books. Mine has both in one, it’s called, "Everybody’s guitar Method" volumes 1 and 2. They’re awsome because they are so detailed and simple to understand.
Do you know of any websites for acoustic guitar lessons, like step by step and that are free.
Any videos would help. thanks.
Not that I know of.
I am looking for a website that has videos(not youtube please) to teach me how to play the bass. Please only post something that is COMPLETLEY FREE.
edward_cullen_lover24 As far as I went on pages it looks like these lessons are free. Good Luck.

And also what do you do when you get this on guitar tab
(0h2p0)
and
(2) instead of 2
Thanks
Depending on which string in the tab the 0h2p0 is on, it means that you pluck the string by itself then "h"ammer down on the "2"nd fret and then "p"ull off back to an open string and pluck it.
The 2 with parenthesis I believe is harmonic, meaning you rest your finger lightly on the second fret and pluck the string. If you do it right it will make a high pitched ring. I could be wrong about the harmonic part though
Hi! I actually have 3 Questions:
What is the guitar capo used for?
When do you know when to use it in a song?
Do Electric Guitars Use Capos?
I’ve never seen a Electric guitar with a capo.
A capo is used to change (raise) the key of your open chords.
A capo is most commonly used by guitar players that aren’t good at barre chords, or for guitar riffs that require open strings in a key other than where open strings are available.
(In a barre chord you use your fore-finger as a capo)
A capo can be used on an electric as well. Even though it’s electric, it’s still a guitar (same rules). Most famous people you see performing with electric guitars know barre chords and don’t need a capo.
I don’t have time for private personal lessons. Anyone know a good website/software I can buy to learn about guitar theory/techniques and blues/rock guitar? ONLY people who actually tried and learned from these software COMPLETELY answer please. I don’t want people who tried something for 2 days and then quit and tell me to try that particular software. Thanks.

DO try playing lead/bass parts alonga da radio/TV, etc, OK?
Easy enough to slide up strings & find da key
Bouncing round 2/3 notes often enough
& mini runs on scales between lines
What d’ya think?
Tried it yet?
Just time to say DO search http://www.YouTube.com for guitar lessons
Inc guitar FX lessons
Nice one, Insomnia!
& Eric began doing that while very much still a novice – as we all do, yes?
Don’t give up: try again, Erin!
If U R in ya room & play quieter than da TV/CD etc, no-one else can hear ya, so don’t be shy to try, try & try again, OK?
Practice makes perfect
A good tip for all guitarists/bassists is to play in front of a mirror, to save craning ya neck
Also, ya eyes are at da right angle for playing to da crowds onstage
& kinda like riding a bike, ya suddenly realise ya can find da right notes without watching ya fingers
OOPS: must go get my bath to be ready to enjoy that sunshine that just vanished but WILL return
Great allegory to get past da mistakes we all make, eh?
Yo Rein
Before I go, did ya ever hear @ da cocky interviewerm who asked the inventor of the lightbulb, "So..you invented it on ya 500th try .. how did it feel to fail @ 500 times?"
Da great guy said, "Young man, I never failed in my life: those 1st 500 tries taught me how NOT to do it >>>>>>>>>
& that’s a vital lesson for all of us, whatever we wanna do in life!"
Yo Chris!
I’m sure many of us drum along on da table etc
Kepp dat bass up, Shadow!
I play bass and I’ve tried to play along with some only to find that the tabs that I have aren’t exactly the same (although I’m not toooo bad at the intro to miss murder by AFI)

I am interested in working with the aged in the musical entertainment, however, i still need some more tuitiom in music, I am seekinng FREE classical guitar lessons, piano lessons and electronic piano keyboard lessons in melbourne australia. can you help me. Maybe there are volunteers who would be interested in giving free lessons. thank you and i await your reply.
No such thing sorry! Although you may be doing a good thing in wanting to work with the aged Music teachers still need to work and pay their bills like everyone else! Sorry! You may be able to get cheap lessons from any student teacher specializing in those instruments but not for free! The standard for any music teachers in Aus is about $30 for half an hour! Most teachers arent willing to give that up! We dont exactly earn big bucks ourselves! You may be able to teach yourself or get your parents to pay for you
